GROUP 09: Music Video 2007/8
Tuesday, 13 November 2007
Final Feedback from other groups:
Outline: "our music video is intended to make you smile and reminisce about maybe past summer or other fond memories. we have tried to incorporate various styles and infuences most noticable E4's "skins" programme. it is meant to be a crazy musical journey."
Genre: " "the genre is new wave, indie electro stylie, the clothes represent the genre as do the bright colours on the basic footage and the colour changes over the shots"
Relationships: "the lyrics/song are very energetic, and the visuals reflect that well. 02.25 mins "live the life" is out of sync".
Camerawork: "really like the funhouse shots, they work really well, should maybe have carried on with this theme as they are very strong shots. lots of different shots in diff locations are effective."
Editing: "editing makes it look crazy and thats what you were aiming for so thats worked well. even though you did repeat a lot of the shots but because its crazy you cant really tell. good fast shots of the squares and the use of people lip synching at the bottom and the crazy suares at the top.

Comparing our music video to others from similar genres on you tube.
Looking through music videos on you tube of videos from the same genre we found many similarities and differences between theirs and ours.
We firstly looked at another A level students work on a Go Team song, that thy too had used for their a level coursework at a different college.
The song they used was huddle formation, and we saw a number of similarities to ours, through their use of iconology with images of vinyl, retro clothing, 80's fiasco, and arcades etc, thing we had tried to achieve in our video.
We shared many similar shots, such as this one of the vintage record player, to enhance the feeling of old school music.

compared to ours:

their video also uses many of the same type of shots, with screens within screen, and a few part where there are boxed screens. The fast past movement we created in urs by speeding up shots, has also been done in this person's video, a they must have interpreted the song in the same way as us, as being very fast paced, and normal speed wouldnt have the right effect.
their video differs to ours in that they dont use an lip synch to break up the footage, which we did for the chorus, and which other Go Team videos tend to do, for example in the Ladyflash video, the action is broken up by singing.:

in the go team videos, they make a point of having planer backgrounds when the singing is taking place, which allows the audience to concentrate on this, and we did this in our video also, with the black back ground.

Feedback:
All of the feedback was positive.
When asked people said they did not realise that it was the same footage repeated time after time. they said they didnt notice because the pictures were constanetly moving and changing movement color and direction.
The video reminded people of past summers and memories.
Made you concentrate and think about what was going onwhich meant that the attention was never lost and was always at a peak.
People liked the bright colors and constant changes.
